He is happily married to Jeanette and they have three awesome girls - Emilee, Macy, and Mandy.

What gets you excited about serving in the Church?

The thing that excites me about ministry and ministering to God's people is the same thing that the prophet Micah stated encouraged him and that is to see people "acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God." (Micah 6:8)

    Any other interests?

I enjoy spending time with my girls and I'm a big football and baseball fan.

What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

A good way for me to kick off every morning is a big cup of Starbucks coffee and a Sinatra tune playing in the background.

What gets you excited about serving in the Church?

I really enjoy the energy and passion that is generated as our church family gathers for worship. It is great to witness believers pouring their hearts out to the Lord.

Music has always been a huge part of my life so I enjoy singing, playing the piano and just about anything involved with music. I love spending time with my wife (Marti) and two kids (Nicole & Andrew). If you cut me, I bleed UK Blue - Go Cats! I am terrible but I like to play golf.

What gets you excited about serving in the Church?

I love when people get excited about their faith in Christ and desire to grow deeper. It is so encouraging when you see a Christ follower living out what they believe and then helping others to find that passion for Christ in their lives. It should be contagious!

    Any other interests?

  • Tom Martinez, IEM Spanish

A retired Miami Beach Police officer, Tom and his wife of thirty years have a married daughter with two kids, and a son who still lives at home. Although Tom grew up knowing about God, a heart attack catapulted Tom into learning God's word the proper way. He went to Johnson University FL (formerly Florida Christian College) for two years and finished his degree at Liberty University online and is currently working on getting his M.Div.

Tom was the Preacher at Heart of Christ Christian Church in Orange City, Florida prior to becoming the preacher for the Intercultural Evangelistic Ministry at First Christian.

What gets you excited about serving in the Church?

What is exciting to me is that the Elders and leaders are unified in bringing two cultures together under one roof. Here at First Christian, the Intercultural Evangelistic Ministry is exactly that, a ministry no different than other ministries, like Bible classes, services, outreach, youth programs and others.

What a joy to witness two cultures seeing themselves as one in Christ, as God has always intended it to be.

I like to exercise, and I enjoy motorcycling with a group throughout the state. I also teach the proper use of firearms and enjoy shooting. I used be an active scuba diver, but cardiac problems ended that.

  • Dean Parker, Technology

Dean serves on our team while also leading a large team of sound and lighting folks at Sea World. He often runs on sweet tea and very little sleep in order to keep Sea World and us up and running. Yet he still manages to make time for his wife Maria and their blended family of 2 girls and 2 grown sons. Dean sees upcoming technologies as a means to help the church body communicate and worship more fully. At the heart of all he does is a wonderful heart of servanthood. We are blessed to have his talents on our team.
